Certification Requirements

The Supporting the ESL E-Series Libraries (HP0—045) exam is an elective exam for the Accredited Systems Engineer – Nearline certification.

This level of certification measures competencies required for hands-on integration and support of technical solutions in complex, enterprise class environments. Given a set of customer business requirements, an individual earning this certification is expected to be able to design, support and

integrate platform, operating system, nearline storage, network and option
components to solve business needs.

The ideal candidate is anyone who deploys complex solutions based on HP
nearline technologies. Job functions include, but are not limited to:

? Plan, design and capacity-size solutions

? Install, configure, startup and upgrade solution components

? Performance tune and optimize solutions

? Troubleshoot solutions and perform removal and replacement operations

? Perform system administration and operational tasks

? Manage using HP tools and resources.

Prerequisites

? HP Accredited Integration Specialist (AIS) certification

Exam Details

At the beginning of the exam, you will be asked to answer several survey questions. The survey questions are designed to assist the exam development team in accurately profiling test results and to improve future exams.

2.0 Perform ESL E-Series installation, configuration and upgrade procedures.
• Identify skills required for implementation.
• Identify hardware components.
• Describe architectural components.
• Describe library operations and configuration.
• Demonstrate correct library configuration through the
Interface Manager card using telnet and Command
View.
• Configure the software.
• Integrate into the existing environment.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair installation and
configuration problems.
• Describe licensing and registration.

3.0 Perform troubleshooting and replacement procedures for
the ESL E-Series libraries.

• Describe initial troubleshooting steps.
• Troubleshoot environment problems including host,
infrastructure, storage, and library related errors.
• Demonstrate correct removal and replacement
procedures to solve library related problems.
• Demonstrate performance tuning, including adjusting
parameters and relieving bottlenecks.
4.0 Administer an ESL E-Series solution.

• Define and assign LUNs.
• Monitor and administer backup schedules and restore
data.
• Check health logs, create trend analysis reports and
