Microsoft Announces New MCA Certification

Microsoft has announced a new designation for their Microsoft Certified Architect (MCA) board-level certification program. Joining the MCA: Messaging program is the MCA: Database option. Obviously, this certification will focus on Microsoft’s SQL Server, but will include other database technologies as well.
This new program is virtually unobtainable given the rigorous requirements that are listed below:

- Candidate must pay $25,000.
- Must be nominated by an MCA: Database title holder.
- Must pass exam 70-290 or 70-292.
- Must have MCITP (either Database Developer or Database Administrator).
- Complete 4 weeks of training in Redmond with weekly written exams.
- Complete a lab-based exam.
- Appear before a peer review board.
