Packet Tracer 3.2 New Features

Packet Tracer 3.2 offers improved sophistication through new capabilities. This version (3.2) is backward compatible with older versions (3.1 and 3.0), but 3.2 files may not open correctly on older versions.

At a glance:

Activity Wizard: Create detailed networguide scenarios for other users to complete.
New Tool Bar: More convenient access to common actions.
Realtime Mode: You can now issue ping and traceroute (simple or extended) to test logical connectivity between devices.
CDP commands: Commands associated with Cisco Discovery Protocol are now available.
Pinging from routers and switches: PCs, servers, and printers are no longer the only device that can ping and send packets.
Command Prompt for PCs: You can issue ping, traceroute, and ipconfig commands.
Self-ping: Devices may ping and send packets to itself.
Resizeable information boxes: You can resize note and description boxes by clicguide and stretching the borders.
Lockable information boxes: A password system is available to protect notes and descriptions from being changed. With this feature, you can, for example, distribute network files with pre-defined instructions for other users and not have to worry about the instructions being modified.
Configurable MAC addresses: MAC addresses can now be changed (but the built-in-address will still exist).
Port security on switches: You can now use the “port-security” commands on switches.
Interface VLAN mode: This mode is now accessible, and allows you to set the IP address for VLANs (among other commands)
More “show” commands: show interface brief, show port-security, show arp, show cdp, and many others.
RIP v1 and v2: both are now supported.
RIP Convergence demo: Use the “RIP Init” special scenario to witness RIP convergence in a network with routers.
