  Well, there isn’t anyplace for this, but since there has been Symantec Exams listed (as freebies), let me rant a little:

  Symantec provides a certification program that is geared for security professionals. Their certifications are considered security. Symantec has made major changes in its certification program in June 2003 where vendor neutral certifications was integrated into the program. These included SANS, CompTIA (Secuity+), TrueSecure (TISCA), ISACA (CISA), ISC2 (CISSP), CIW (Security Analyst).

  As matter of fact, the industry continues to move towards exam integration among the associations and vendors. We know that Microsoft accepts some CompTIA certifications as electives in the MCSA & MCSE program, and a Unisys exam as an elective also. Citrix will except some Microsoft exams, cSage accepts CompTIA Linux+, and the list continues to grow.

  Back to Symantec: Symantec also retired old paths and created new certification paths in its program. So effective in early 2004 are the SCTA (Symantec Certified Technology Architect) and the SCSE (Symantec Certified Security Engineer) in their new forms. For each area, one of the following solution exams is required for that respective area:

  SCTA Virus Protection & Integrated Client Security
  (250-504) Symantec Virus Protection & Integrated Client Security Solutions (Available April 2004)
  (251-504) Symantec Virus Protection & Integrated Client Security Solutions (Beta Version Available 3/3/04-3/22/04). Valid 03/03/2004 – 03/22/2004

  SCTA Intrustion Protection
  250-501) Symantec Intrusion Protection Solutions (Available February 2004)
  (251-501) Symantec Intrusion Protection Solutions (Beta Version available 12/18/03 – 1/13/04). Valid 12/18/2003 – 01/13/2004

  SCTA Firewalls & Integrated Security Appliances
  (250-502) Symantec Firewalls & Integrated Appliances Solutions (available March 2004)
  (251-502) Symantec Firewalls & Integrated Appliances Solutions (Beta Version available 2/4/04-2/23/04). Valid 02/04/2004 – 02/23/2004

  SCTA Security Management
  (250-503) Symantec Security Management Solutions (Available March 2004)
  (251-503) Symantec Security Management Solutions (Beta Version Available 1/6/04-1/26/04). Valid 01/06/2004 – 01/26/2004

  So, if you stop for a moment, you can see the expected live date for each exam as well as the beta periods. These are subject to change. Some of the beta periods are already complete, and it looks like IPS is due this month to go live. We also can see that the Firewalls is being beta this month (see my post in FREE stuff area, and that we have just one more beta exam coming up in March – Virus.

  The STSA in each area would require one of the more general vendor neutral certifications in addition to the solution exam, ex: Security+.

  The SCSE in each area would require the appropriate SANS certification to achive that ceetification.

  The SCSP – the highest premier certification of Symantec would require any two of the above solution exams and either the CISSP or one of the 4 SANS certifications.
