This lab was created based on a real world scenario and need. The need was to have 1 router at each end-point. One being the client side and the other being the side where their devices/services/apps reside (let’s call it the field). There is only one ISP at the client side and 2 available and routable paths from the field. Both paths can reach the internet at some point. No BGP as an option.. All static routing also.
The goal was to have the field end-point utilize one connection primarily and use the secondary only if primary is down. This took using Object Tracking, Floating Default Routes, IPS SLA & Multi-Peer VPN configurations to work out.
Routers Used: 3640
IOS: c3640-jk9s-mz.124-16a
