CCVP Certification
CCVP Instant Answers
The CCVP certification recognizes the increased importance placed on IT professionals of today who are responsible for integrating voice technology into underlying network architectures. Individuals who earn a CCVP certification can help create a telephony solution that is transparent, scalable, and manageable. Earning a CCVP certification validates a robust set of skills in implementing, operating, configuring, and troubleshooting a converged IP network. The certification content focuses on Cisco Unified Communications Manager (formerly Unified CallManager), quality of service (QoS), gateways, gatekeepers, IP phones, voice applications, and utilities on Cisco routers and Cisco Catalyst switches.

CCVP Recertification
CCVP certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass any 642 exam that is part of the professional level curriculum after 01/01/06, or pass a current CCIE or CCDE written exam.
Considering that study material and Dumps are available for 642-432, it’s best to stick to it. This exam retires on the 26th of July 2008. So hopefully you should have enough time for this exam.
The Study Material and Dumps for the new 642-436 Exam will not be available any time soon. So it’s defnitely a risk.
But then again now the CCVP has been divided into two distinct categories.
CCVP Exams & Recommended Training
There are now two paths that can be taken to achieve CCVP certification
1. For individuals using Cisco Unified Communications Manager the following path towards certification is recommended:

642-453 GWGK Implementing Cisco Voice Gateways and Gatekeepers (GWGK)
=====================================================================
If you are going for the first track you have no choice but to go with 642-436 as your first exam. When I started CCVP there was only 1 track for it. So far I have completed the following Exams:
1. 642-642 QoS v2.2 Quality of Service (QoS)
2. 642-432 CVOICE Cisco Voice over IP (CVOICE v5.0) AND Cisco Voice over IP fundamentals (CVF v1.0)
3. 642-444 CIPT 4.1 Cisco IP Telephony Part 1 (CIPT1 4.1) AND Cisco IP Telephony Part 2 (CIPT2 4.1)
AND now I am preparing for the final 2 which are:
4. 642-453 GWGK Implementing Cisco Voice Gateways and Gatekeepers (GWGK)
5. 642-426 TUC Troubleshooting Cisco Unified Communications Systems (TUC v1.0)
As yet I still have’nt found the Official Study Guide for the TUC Exam. I started preparing for my CCVP with this Track in mind from December 2007. Ofcourse for the new aspiring CCVPs about to start this certification it is going to be an intersting debate as to which particular track suits whom ?
This Breaking News Came in just today, 18th March 2008 !!!
Unified Communications News:
By Michael Morisy, News Writer
18 Mar 2008 | SearchUnifiedCommunications.com
Cisco Systems has unveiled details of its Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP) certification refresh, which updates Cisco’s CCVP training courses and tests to fall in line with the latest Unified Communications Manager platform, as well as focusing on more real-world usage in the lab.
This focus on making both the CCVP training and testing resemble live networks is part of a larger shift by Cisco to make its programs focus on the needs of professionals rather than training to the device, said Mary Ng, unified communications portfolio manager for Learning@Cisco.
“It’s very typical in our vendor-based industry to do product training,” she said. “[Cisco's certification program] is now focused on the needs of the students in their natural working environment.”
Donwload Free PassGuide Braindumps-The Most Realistic Practice Questions and Answers,Help You Pass any ExamsThat means moving from training for the unique commands and tools that Cisco Unified Communications Manager offers to demonstrating how the platforms operate in a live network, with more role-based implementations and real-world monitoring exercises.
“People will learn a lot more efficiently and transfer what they learn as it relates to their job,” said Christine Yoshida, portfolio marketing manager for Learning@Cisco.
Ng added that Cisco was working hard to keep its training and certification relevant by considering the entire lifecycle of a deployment instead of just the installation and initial management.
Of particular importance in this update was mobile VoIP, an emerging technology that many networks still struggle to provide, but one likely to become more commonplace as more dual-mode handsets hit the marketplace.
Other topics newly covered or covered in more depth:
Management of single-site, centralized and multi-site network deployments
Signaling protocols
Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE)
Enhanced dial plans
H.323 and SIP gatewaysCall Admission Control (CAC)
There will continue to be two tracks to CCVP certification: One for those using the newer Cisco Unified Communications Manager, now in version 6.0, and another for those still working with Cisco Unified Call Manager v4.1. Both paths share the newly updated QoS and TUC exams, the former not having been refreshed in three years.
Eventually CCVP certification training for Unified Call Manager will be phased out, but that is still on the horizon.
“Over time, it might be two years … we do anticipate the older version [Unified Call Manager] not being part of our program,” Ng said. For those who have been preparing for the older Unified Communications Manager v5.0 exam, its grace period is extended until Saturday, July 26, 2008.
For networking professionals looking to advance their careers, beefed up unified communications credentials are one way to stand out. VoIP certainly isn’t leaving the enterprise: A recent SearchNetworking survey found ghref=”http://searchnetworking.techtarget.com/news/article/0,289142,sid7_gci1284841,00.html” mce_href=”http://searchnetworking.techtarget.com/news/article/0,289142,sid7_gci1284841,00.html”>voice-data convergence will drive network expenditures next year, and that trend is only likely to increase as other unified communications technologies are added to the mix. Some CCVP lab time is one way to help stay up to date.
Ng said that while the program was aimed at more experienced professionals, it was tailored to bring even those without an IP voice background up to speed.
“We want the program to be appropriate for somebody with 35 to 40 years of experience,” she said. “Our curriculum allows us to carry those individuals from older [non-IP] telecom experience to IP PBX.”
How Many times, I need to say this before people believe me??
GWGK 642-453 must be done exactly after Cvoice 642-432 because they have a lot in common; Cisco even merged those two exams into one exam (Cvoice 642-436) in their new CCVP path, which proves how related those two exams are. Whatever you decided to do, you should do CVOICE then right after that GWGK.
QoS 642-642 can be done at any time; it is not much related to the rest… If you are already a CCNP or have good experience in R&S, you can start with QoS (but you do not have to)… if you are new to this then it is better do QoS after you’ve build some foundation in CVoice&GWGK, but before TUC.
I felt that TUC depends heavily on CIPT 642-444, and better be done exactly after it… I imagine the same can be said about CIPT 642-445.
So you can either do the following:
If you are a CCNP then you can do: QoS, CVOICE, GWGK, CITP then TUC
If you are not a CCNP then do: CVOICE, GWGK, QoS, CIPT then TUC (Cisco’s Partner Education Connection (PEC) recommends this Learning Map)
If you are in rush to do CVOICE 642-453 and CIPT 642-445 before 7/26/08 then do: CVOICE, GWGK, CIPT, QoS then TUC. Anyway QoS is not going anywhere.
But whatever you do, do not delay GWGK after you do CVOICE… it is much easier to do them together as around 30% of GWGK is already in CVOICE 642-453.
